Albany Barn, Inc.

Albany Barn, Inc. is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization developing a permanent, sustainable creative arts incubator and community center in Albany, NY called The Barn – a place for artists to explore, create, present promote, learn and live, particularly those who cannot afford or otherwise access such space and services.

Albany Barn has partnered with the Albany Housing Authority to redevelop the former St. Joseph’s Academy, an abandoned school in the heart of Albany’s imperiled inner-city neighborhood Arbor Hill. The project is called The Barn/Academy Lofts. The facilities planned for the 40,000+ square foot structure include 25 low-cost, live-work residences and ground level work studios, rehearsal suites, performance and exhibition space, a public darkroom, a digital media lab, and more.
